Ceramic Angel

This mobile photographer wants to try a hand at taking photos of toys, capturing minute and intricate details.

Here is one I took a photo of using a mobile phone:

Instagram Photos

This is not exactly a toy but a ceramic angel which was given to guests when my just turned teen son was baptized when he was a few months old.

NatGeo Doggy Day Camp 2012

Here are some photos I took (using my Android phone) from the recently celebrated November 11, 2012 Nat Geo Doggy Day Camp at BGC :

River Sunset

I love taking drive-by photos. I think I have “mastered” this task a bit using my mobile gadget and point and shoot camera.

River Sunset

Sunsets at the beach look good but river sunsets? Now this is an unusual photo for me and I definitely like how it was captured.

Photo processed and posted in Instagram.

Green Fish

Green fish swimming. Except these are not real fish but empty plastic 1.5/2 liters Sprite green bottles. This was done by the eldest child and her classmates with the Greenpeace Volunteers.

What a lovely way to recycle. Or reuse. Huh? I’m confused.

I remember going to a min-concert of a folk singer half a lifetime ago, he said something like this while holding up a bottled water: “This is a healthy thing to do, drink water. In a politically incorrect non-biodegradable container.”

Everyone should learn how to reduce, reuse and recycle (not sure if this is the correct sequence, lol). We start them young in doing the three R for our trash. This reduce, reuse and recycle applies even or especially to people with Surgical Technologist jobs, doctors, teachers, and parents.

We do this at home, segregate our trash. Little things do matter when it comes to caring for the environment.

New Canon Pixma Printers

Canon, my favorite brand of camera, is introducing five new Canon Pixma printers.

Printers nowadays have changed the way we enjoy our creative pursuits in different fields like photography and digital arts. Was it just several years ago when we had to go to a photo printing shop to get our photos printed an hour or two after we checked in our films and files to the tech guys?

These days, we see all-in-one machines in homes that serve to scan, print and photocopy documents, photos and files. With so many choices to choose the best that suit our needs, there are several factors that rank high among consumers:

  • functionality
  • user-friendly
  • effective cost-saving
  • good quality digital images
  • machine should also look good, whether it is used in an office or at home

These following criteria are what Canon, the leading expert in digital imaging, had in mind when it introduced new Canon Pixma Photo Printers.

The following are the new Canon Pixma Printers introduced to a growing range of consumers dabbling in digital art:

PIXMA MP287 is compact and stylish all-in-one printer that is the perfect home printer because a few seconds from start-up, it is ready to print out excellent digital images. One good thing about this printer is its hassle-free self-opening paper output tray during printing and copying. SRP: PhP3,495.00

PIXMA E500 makes operation of the printer easy even to the technically-challenged people. PIXMA E500 prints 1,200 pages for every set of ink cartridges thereby reducing cartridge replacement as well as reducing costs in getting new cartridges.

FastFront and Auto Photo Fix II are additional functions of this printer. For effects, PIXMA E500 has fish-eye, miniature, toy, soft focus and blur background. There are also stationery templates to choose from. SRP: PhP4,495.00

PIXMA IP4970 Photo Printer uses FINE, Hybrid and ChromaLife 100+ in printing colorful digital images. This is a dedicated photo printer.

What more, it allows Full HD Movie Print and Easy PhotoPrint EX (think photoshop IN your printer) to be able to print visually unique digital images that will last for a long time. SRP: PhP6,495.00

PIXMA MG5370 All-in-One Photo Printer has a magic word: built-in WI-FI. Yes, this is wi-fi capable and can connect (wirelessly!) to a computer network. It can be shared among several computers. What more, photos can be directly printed using the PIXMA MG5370 from iPhones, iPads and Android devices. There are slots for memory card and USB flash drive for direct printing, if you prefer it this way. Or better yet, printing via Bluetooth or the built-in PictBridge can also be done.

There are five individual ink tanks that prints sharp photo prints. SRP: PhP8,495.

PIXMA MG8270 has an LCD panel and a touch-sensitive area that helps the consumer use the printer’s different functions.  The six-cylinder individual ink cartridges has gray ink for monochrome digital prints.

PIXMA MG8270 is an all-in-one printer with film scanning which is excellent for those who prefer films and/or those who would want to digitize their films. The best of both worlds in term of digital and film photography is enjoyed using PIXMA MG8270. SRP: PhP19,295.00.
