Starfish And it’s Yellow Underside

Starfish and it's Yellow underside

Photo first posted here.

Yellow underside of a starfish. It really makes me wonder why sea creatures are so colorful despite the fact that they are mostly underwater. It turns out, according to an article that I read, that communication signals, mating, camouflage, territory and other factors are used for color information and fine spatial information to encode species identity.

And at the rate the ocean degradation is happening, these shallow water colorful sea creatures won’t have much protection from mostly humans who them more harm and damage. So please, put back these starfish and other sea creatures in the water if you are done taking their photos. As much as possible, leave them where they belong: to the sea.

Flowing Stream

Would you readily put your feet in a flowing stream or are you the type who wants to use a digital ph meter first? I know someone who does, 😀

Stream

A stream this small (or wait, is it a creek?) is like a rare gem find for us, city dwellers. We have to travel a ways (60+ kilometers)

Clear Water

We went hiking three weeks ago, in search of a waterfalls. We did this during high noon. Talk about crazy eh?

It was hot yes, but not blistering hot because the mountain breeze was cool. There was one problem though, we didn’t wear any Backpacking Boots. I wore my rubber slippers and though it was not slippery on the way down the water falls, it made me think how unprepared I was for the hike.

There’s my pair of feet, one foot is struggling to keep still so I won’t slip, lol:

We had so much fun! The kids went swimming after we hiked.

Walking Path

I love walking especially on walking paths and trails. I have yet to test my new pair of shoes because I haven’t used it more than twice yet, especially for long distance walking.

Walking Path

Walking is one of the more inexpensive exercise. This should be encouraged in residential areas and I’m am sure moms and dads with baby jogger strollers will definitely welcome the idea of having walking paths where they live.I know I do, so we won’t have to travel somewhere else just to have a good place to walk.

And yes, more often than not, travel time becomes the excuse to not go at all.
